On May 14, according to the Economic Daily, China Telecom responded today to the message that "use 5G network or need to change SIM card", saying that China Telecom's existing 4G users do not need to change their cards, as long as they change to 5G mobile phones, they can use 5G services in areas covered by 5G signals. China Telecom 5G SA security enhanced SIM card is mainly aimed at industrial application scenarios with higher security enhancement requirements, such as intelligent manufacturing, Internet of vehicles, telemedicine, smart city and other fields.

China Telecom previously released a white paper on 5G SA security enhancement SIM card. The white paper put forward basic functional requirements, architecture requirements, technical requirements, and detailed the new 5G mobility management, user identity privacy protection, security authentication enhancement, GBA authentication, 5G access control, 5G USAT events and other functions and corresponding application scenarios.
At the same time, the white paper also pointed out that at this stage, users access the 5G network through 4G cards. The existing 4G cards lack the new functions defined in the 5G standard and the new card files and services. The user identity data is transmitted in clear text during the communication process, and the location information is not accurate enough to meet the information and security requirements of the 5G network. With the in-depth expansion of 5G industry applications, users can not cope well with the requirements of various business development, and users can not enjoy the new experience and business services brought by 5G network.
